so tell me...

This blog is going to be pretty random as far as I can see at this point. I don't really know if there will be any organization to it, so we'll see what happens I guess. I'll probably just ramble about stuff I'm thinking about or things that have happened to me, or I might just make stuff up, I'm not really sure yet. So I hope I can keep it interesting, and I hope I can post new things somewhat regularly. Well anyways, enjoy!

Donuts continued

So, I said that I would talk more about donuts in a later post, and this is that post. Perhaps you don't even care that I follow through on this; I know that I would feel the same way. I am doing this though because I hate breaking promises with a passion. Plus it would shatter my emotions to think that someone out there might have a broken heart because they so dearly wanted to hear about donuts and I had neglected to write about them. So here goes.

I am rather picky when it comes to donuts. I actually like them to be rather plain. I am not a big fan of toppings although I don't mind having sprinkles on them from time to time. The classic glazed donut is, well, classic. Plain yet wonderful. I also like donuts with chocolate frosting on them. They are also very good, but you need to have milk with those. Milk is strongly recommended for any donut in my opinion, but almost a requirement if that donut has chocolate frosting on it. I am not a big fan of vanilla frosting for some reason. I don't really know why. I hate filled donuts and it is a terrible feeling when you bite into a donut you thought was perfectly normal, but find some strange cream or jelly filling inside instead. I don't like being surprised when eating in general, and when it is something that I have a very detailed opinion about, being surprised is not a good thing. I don't like fruit flavored donuts like apple fritters because it's trying to combine too many flavors in one thing. And I hate, absolutely hate, cake donuts. They're just so dry and they make your teeth scratchy. It is the worst feeling ever when you get scratchy teeth. I just shudder every time I think about it. The only good cake donuts are the ones that are glazed all the way around. Actually, one of my favorite donuts are the ones that are completely chocolate with a thin layer of glaze covering them.

I know that I am rather picky when it comes to this subject, but as long as it is kept simple, it will be good. No cake donuts, no crazy toppings and no fruit will almost always be a winner in my book. Okay. I'm hungry now, so I'm going to stop. Until later.

The donut is right

So, wow, I haven't posted on here at all this month, but I guess that's kind of expected since the semester is winding down. I was just in the middle of studying for one of my finals and decided I needed a break. Well since we are nearing Christmas, I figured I would reminisce a little about past holiday seasons and try to think of my favorite tradition.

I should probably preface this by saying that my grandparents used to live in New York and they would always come out here for Christmas, so it was always super exciting when they came. They would stay in our house of course, so it was like we had an extra two people born into our family, except in reverse, sort of. Well anyway, my favorite tradition was that every morning they were here, they would walk my brother and I down to a donut shop that was by our house and we would get donuts. Donuts every day for about 3 weeks. Pretty much heaven in my opinion. Plus they would always be showing The Price is Right on the television, so we had a pretty good combination going with donuts and The Price is Right. That combo is hard to beat. Well this whole tradition might be why I love donuts and that show so much, although I think I like that show because of the huge wheel they spun at the end. I mean, honestly, who could resist watching that thing spin around? It was mesmerizing.

Looking back on this, I think I want to talk a lot more about donuts, but I'll save that for the next post. Well it was rather fun to think back, although rather sad at the same time, because my grandparents live here now, so it would be pointless to have them drive over to our house just so we could walk to the donut shop. Oh yeah, and the donut shop doesn't even exist anymore, so that makes it kind of hard as well. Welp, back to studying. Yes!
